The story behind the legend

Once upon a time...

The VP-133 (Patrol Bombing Squadron 133) was a United States Navy patrol squadron equipped with the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura. Its primary mission was to conduct maritime patrol, anti-submarine warfare, and bombing operations throughout the Pacific during the Second World War.

As the war progressed, the squadron supported several major amphibious operations, including those associated with the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. Operating from advanced bases across the Pacific, VP-133 carried out long-range patrols, reconnaissance missions, and strike operations designed to secure vital sea lanes and support the Allied advance. Equipped with the Ventura, a fast and versatile patrol bomber, the squadron played an important role in suppressing enemy positions and providing air support during the planning and execution of the Iwo Jima campaign.

The entire Warbird Collection is inspired by the work of renowned aviation illustrator Romain Hugault and was developed in close collaboration with him. Every piece reflects his distinctive artistic vision and his deep passion for aviation history.

For Barnstormer, collaborating with Romain Hugault has been both a true privilege and a source of great pride. It is an honor to work alongside such a highly respected artist, whose talent and dedication perfectly align with our commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, and storytelling.

This collaboration goes far beyond design—it represents a shared vision in which art and aviation heritage come together to create something truly unique and meaningful.
