"TBM Avenger" T-shirt

The VC-13 (Composite Squadron 13) operated the Grumman TBM Avenger as part of the U.S. Navy’s escort carrier groups during the Second World War, playing an active role in the Battle of the Atlantic through anti-submarine warfare operations.

Equipped with radar and depth charges, the TBM Avenger was used to detect, track, and attack German U-boats threatening Allied convoys. Operating from escort carriers, these aircraft flew regular patrols and strike missions, engaging submarines whenever contact was made. In several documented encounters, TBM Avengers forced German U-boats to surface or contributed directly to their destruction, playing a significant role in reducing the effectiveness of Germany’s submarine campaign and safeguarding the vital transatlantic supply routes upon which the Allied war effort depended.

The entire Warbird Collection is inspired by the work of renowned aviation illustrator Romain Hugault and was developed in close collaboration with him. Every piece reflects his distinctive artistic vision and his deep passion for aviation history.
