"Miss Mitchell" is the perfect example of what a group of dedicated volunteers can accomplish. Donated to the Minnesota Wing in the 1980s.
The B-25 made World War II history on April 18, 1942, when 16 of these medium-range bombers took off from the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean and bombed mainland Japan. Under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel James "Jimmy" Doolittle, America had begun to gain the upper hand against the Japanese.
The B-25J "Miss Mitchell" served with the 310th Bomb Group, 57th Bomb Wing of the 12th Air Force in North Africa and Italy, flying over 130 missions. The fact that no crew member lost his life during all his missions is a rare feat. Before taking command of 8th Air Force in Europe in 1944, 12th Air Force was under the command of Brigadier General Jimmy Doolittle.
Today, Miss Mitchell participates in air shows and special events throughout the United States and Canada.
The CAF Minnesota Wing operates a historic flight program that gives you the opportunity to fly as a crew member on Miss Mitchell!
For every "Miss Mitchell" hoodie sold, Barnstormer will donate a portion of the proceeds to CAF MINNESOTA to keep the aircraft flying.
By donating a Barnstormer USA garment, you are helping to preserve aviation heritage!
